Our CEO and co-founder, Laura Fuentes, a licensed compounding pharmacist for 25 years, refined her formulation over years to create a better absorption experience. Rather than simply infuse MCT oil or olive oil with CBD- as most CBD companies do - she created a unique blend that delivers a sweet taste and a warm, pleasant mouth-feel to make the entire experience better for our customers.

That’s why it’s so important to go with an actual CBD manufacturer like Green Roads instead of a white label brand. White labeling is when a brand buys finished products from an industrial manufacturer and simply puts their own labels on them. The vast majority of “CBD Companies” are actually white label brands. When you’ve got a shelf full of white labeled products, the difference between them is only label-deep. When you have an original product creator like Green Roads, the difference in quality is on a molecular level.

Laura had more than two decades of experience as a licensed compounding pharmacist on her resume when she first started creating our CBD oils, topicals and other products. Since then we’ve had two other pharmacists join our team, directly working with her on formulating and manufacturing our products. You may see other brands now trying to play catch up and claim that they have pharmacy or medical professionals on staff or as advisors. Ours literally runs the company, and that makes a huge difference. Laura’s personal standards are what drive our formulations, innovation, sourcing, manufacturing and lab testing day in and day out.
However, the difference in quality starts long before the CBD oil itself is formulated. It goes right back to the land where the hemp plants the CBD comes from is grown.
Not all Hemp Sourcing is Equal — Green Roads CBD comes from American Hemp
We believe American farms produce the best hemp and Green Roads hand-picks farms in the U.S. to provide the raw materials for our products. We insist that the hemp extract from these farms have certificates of origin and analysis. These certificates show that the materials have been tested for pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants from the soil. Our raw materials are extracted using cutting-edge techniques, and to be extra sure of their quality and safety, we have those raw ingredients tested by an independent laboratory before we use them in our products.
Frankly, the CBD industry is filled with other brands that don’t have transparent sourcing. In fact, many white-label brands may not even know where the hemp in their products comes from. There’s no telling where or under what conditions these plants were grown. They may be of legal or illegal origin, or not tested for pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants. Hemp plants have an absorption quality. Whatever elements and toxins are in the soil get taken up into them. That’s why we’ve got such high standards about how and where our hemp is grown. Again, Green Roads believes consumers deserve better. Accountability from seed to sale makes an enormous difference.
NOT ALL LAB TESTING IS EQUAL
Independent lab testing matters. It’s how consumers can trust that they are getting products that are both potent and safe. Good lab tests reveal that a product not only has the expected amount of CBD but that it has been tested for unwanted or harmful substances like pesticides, metals, solvents or microbials. Some high quality brands follow Green Roads’ lead and have outside independent labs perform robust tests on every batch of raw materials and every batch of finished products.
Unfortunately, the booming CBD industry has attracted a lot of entrepreneurs who are simply looking to “cash-in” and make a quick buck. They don’t want to go through the hassle and expense of doing things the right way, and so when it comes to independent testing they may be cutting corners or worse.
- In some cases, the laboratory may be an in-house facility owned by the CBD brand itself. That’s like grading your own homework!
- We believe that others may simply pay for the lab results they want, or forge lab sheets.
- Some have one batch that passes its lab tests and they post that lab sheet for every batch.
- Some brands only submit an isolate, or CBD concentrate, for testing. That’s not good enough because even if that ingredient has been tested for pesticides, metals or other harmful substances, it may then be blended with other ingredients that have not.
Testing is a key part of Green Roads’ quality control process and has been for years. Every batch of every product that Green Roads puts out, whether it’s a CBD oil, CBD gummy, Hemp Flower Coffee or even our CBD Drops for pets is tested by an independent, accredited lab. QR codes that lead consumers to those lab results. are part of our commitment to transparency. We’ve been following these rigorous measures long before state regulations made them mandatory.
We believe hemp is a deeply misunderstood and unfairly maligned plant. We don’t want to see anybody miss out on the positives CBD can bring because of a chance encounter with a bad product, or one of unsafe origin.
